About National Institutes for Cultural Heritage

The Independent Administrative Institution National Institutes for Cultural Heritage comprises eight institutions: the Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and Kyushu National Museums, The Museum of the Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan, the Tokyo and Nara National Research Institutes for Cultural Properties, and the International Research Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region.
We aim to conserve and utilize our valuable cultural properties through various activities, including the collection, conservation and display of tangible cultural properties as well as research related to cultural properties in general.

From here on, we will continue pushing forward step by step while retaining a thoroughgoing awareness of the roles we need to fulfil. We look forward to receiving your continued support in these endeavors.
